The Rev. J. David Knight

The Rev. J. David Knight, Rector

The Reverend David Knight was born in Meridian, Mississippi and grew up primarily in Hattiesburg. He graduated with Honors from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1981 with a double major in Athletic Administration and Coaching and Computer Science.

The Rev. J. Lynne Hough

The Rev. J. Lynne Hough, Deacon

A long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Rev. Hough graduated from Biloxi High School and attended MS Gulf Coast Community College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and William Carey College. She received a degree in Data Processing from Phillips College in 1985. She worked for 34 years at the Daily Herald, now Sun Herald, retiring in 1992 as Sr. Programer and Systems Analyst.

The Rev. Lynne Hough's connection with St. Patrick's began in the 1980's as a layperson.

The Rev. J. David Knight, continued
Upon graduation, Rev. Knight worked in the bank Data Processing field and remained in that field for 22 years. The last 13 years of his banking career were spent at Trustmark National Bank in Jackson, where the last position he held was as Assistant Vice President and Manager of Emerging Technology.

In January of 1999 Rev. Knight was accepted by the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi as a candidate for priesthood. The Knight family left Jackson in August of 1999 to attend Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. While in seminary, Rev. Knight served as student body Vice President and was awarded the Field Prize for the outstanding student preacher at Seabury Western. He graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Seabury Western in May of 2002.

Upon graduation, Reverend Knight was assigned to St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville. He was ordained as Priest at St. James on December 14, 2002. Reverend Knight has been involved at the diocesan level as a member of the Diocesan Strategy Committee, is currently the chair of the New Church Starts Committee, was elected as an alternate clergy deputy to General Convention 2006, has been a member of the Honduras Medical Mission, and has led events for young adults and for youth in the Diocese. He accepted the call to become Rector of St. Patrick’s in March of 2004.

Reverend Knight is married to Jennifer Forrester Knight who is an RN at Urgent Care of Bay St. Louis. Jennifer Knight is a member of the Honduras Medical Mission committee of the Diocese of Mississippi, and has served on the mission team numerous times. The Knight’s have three children Chelsea (20), Mackenzie (18) and Joseph (11).

As a member of St. Patrick's, Lynne Hough served in many leadership roles including licensed layreader and six years as Sr. Warden.

She completed and served as mentor for Education for Ministry (EFM), an extension program from the University of the South, Sewanee, TN. She served on staff and as rector for Cursillo in Mississippi. From 1990-1995, she completed 5 units of Clinical Pastoral Education through Memorial Hospital (Gulfport) and Southern Baptist Hospital (New Orleans) in preparation for the chaplaincy. Rev. Hough has been a Staff Chaplain for Memorial Hospital in Gulfport for the past 13 years.

The Rev. Lynne Hough graduated in the first class of the new Mississippi School for Deacons in 1995 and was ordained in the Episcopal church in 1996. After ordination she served as Deacon at St. Peter's By the Sea, Gulfport, and at St. Patrick's. She is currently taking graduate level coursework in Christian spirituality through General Theological Seminary (Episcopal) in New York City. She chairs the diocesan Deacon's Discernment Committee and serves on the screening committee for the diocesan Commission on Ministry. In June, Rev. Hough was one of nine deacons across the United States and Canada to receive this year's St. Stephen's award from the North American Association of the Deaconate (NAAD).

Rev. Hough's son Johnny and daughter-in-law Annette live in Oak Ridge, TN.
