ULTREYA!
The next Ultreya gathering for St. Patrick's is Sunday
September 21 at 5:00 PM. All are invited, whether you've been to Cursillo or
not. Come hear about all the ministries Cursillo has helped to spawn in our
diocese. Bring a snack if you can (no meal this time).
OUTREACH MEETING, SUNDAY, SEPT. 28
Two years ago, when asked “If you
had three wishes for St. Patrick’s for the next 3 – 5 years, what would they
be?” one parishioner replied “A church humming 24/7.” By this time next year,
we will be in our new buildings. If you are excited by the prospect of our new
buildings “humming 24/7” in abundant ways that serve our community, plan to
attend a strategic planning session on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 3 – 5 pm in the
classroom trailer. If you are passionate about a service ministry or need out in
the community and want to see St. Patrick’s involved – this meeting is also for
you. The Rev. Bill Livingston will lead our process. Coming to this meeting does
not obligate you to any future committees or events. Hope to see you
there!
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
St. Patrick’s has scheduled Saturday October 4th at
10:00 am for “Blessing of the Animals”. Location to be announced. Donations of
pet food will be collected for the animal shelter. More details coming
soon.
September 21: Christian Education
Begins
Classes for K - 4th grade
(led by Donna Lishen and Courtney Taylor) and 5th through 8th grade (led by
Vicky Taylor and Jennifer Knight) begin. An adult class will be held at the same
time. Children and teachers will process to classrooms as soon as they receive
communion (adults - you have to stay in church until it's over!). Any parents or
others interested in leading a class for younger children, please see Fr. David
or Donna Lishen. We also need some substitute teachers for when our leaders are
out of town. The Nursery will be open until Christian Ed is over each
Sunday.
EYC
Meals
We need volunteers to feed our hungry teens - once a month
(2nd Sunday of each month). See Vicky Taylor if you can help.
Wednesday Night Services
The Wednesday night Eucharist and Healing Service has resumed. This
service is at 6:00 PM at Camp Coast Care in the volunteer
building.
Handchimes
Practice
Handchime practice begins on Thursday, October 2 at 7 pm
in the Church Office. The Choir is practicing on Wednesdays at 7 pm in the
Chapel at Coast Episcopal School. Anyone who would like to participate is
welcome to join. You can see our choir master John Hodges or just make the
practice times above.
Diocese News
Praying In Color,
November 7th & 8th
with
special guest Sybil MacBeth, author, educator, and dancer
“A
new prayer form gives God an invitation and a new door to penetrate the locked
cells of our hearts and minds,” explains Sybil MacBeth. For many of us, using
only words to pray reduces God by the limits of our finite words. Sybil insists
that participants of this unique conference event require NO skill for drawing.
Sybil says, herself, “I cannot draw a cat! Or a dog. Or anything else for that
matter.” This conference is about color and a new experience in worship. Keep
in mind, Sybil says, “Whether you are a visual or kinesthetic learner, a
distractible or impatient soul, a word-weary pray-er or just a person looking
for a new way to pray, I hope you will find this practice helpful.” Please ioin
us on Friday and Saturday, November 7th & 8th for this amazing and
refreshing educational experience in prayer. For registration information
please go online to Praying In Color. You may also
contact The Rev. Debo Dykes, debo@dioms.org.
Confirmation
If you wish to be confirmed by Bishop Gray (or received
from the Roman Catholic Church) when he visits us on October 19, you MUST
contact the church office right away so we can prepare for confirmation /
inquirer's class. See Fr. David if you have any questions. Anyone wishing to
renew their baptismal vows when the Bishop visits should also talk to Fr.
David.
